Split Rock Lighthouse Redux
I finally got a chance to retake this shot, with much better light, a lot less haze, and a much better lens: the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM (purchased used since lots of people are upgrading to the new mark II).
The difference between this shot and the previous one (taken with a Nikon D5000 and the Nikkor 70-200 f/4-5.6 VR) is night and day.
